What I do at Evotix
Leading, coaching and working alongside our team of high performing platform engineers to design, develop, test and deliver infrastructure and associated services for our products. Working closely with the Business Technology, Development, and Product teams to support efficient and high quality delivery of our products, whilst ensuring security, performance, resilience and cost objectives are achieved.
- Mentoring, coaching, and supporting out platform engineers to succeed in their roles and further their professional development.
- Developing the platform engineering roadmap based on the needs of our Business Technology, Development, Product and Platform engineering teams.
- Supporting and collaborating with our Business Technology team to operate our products effectively in production environments.
- Delivering development environments and software delivery pipelines to support our development agile teams and enable the adoption of continuous delivery practices.
- Architecting secure, scalable, performant solutions on AWS cloud in conjunction with technical leads.
- Creating technical requirements and specifications for major software systems and subsystems.
- Communicating and presenting system solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Assisting with the development of technology and product roadmaps through researching, emerging and alternate technologies.
- Developing technical relationships with vendors to leverage new technologies, knowledge and skills and develop partnerships built on trust and expertise.
Who am I?
My background is software engineering for business applications having started out as a graduate software engineer 25 years ago. My early career was in mobile applications and associate network systems where I started as a software engineer and progressed to managing a large software engineering department. I then made a sideways move into software and systems architecture in which I progress to Chief Technical Architect with a focus on mult-tenant SaaS systems hosted in the cloud (AWS).
I joined Evotix just over 2 years ago as the Senior Cloud Architect working with the development teams to build our new cloud native SaaS platform in AWS cloud. Since then I've taken up the role of Head of Platform Engineering, leading the newly formed Platform Engineering team with responsibility for the infrastructure and CI/CD for our global suite of products.
